I feel old

After spending four hours playing with the boys.  I am usually dead.  I usually have to carb load like a marathon runner before the boys come over.  I challenge any of you to try the following for four hours and see how you feel.

Merry Christmas sort of

I had the boys on Thursday and Friday.  I was supposed to get them on Christmas day, but did not, due to a "misunderstanding" between Madame X and myself.  Not getting the boys on Christmas has made me realize that holiday's are going to mean a bit more for me, now that I have two little boys that I was very excited to see play with some of their stuff, and maybe I wanted to play with their stuff too.  I watched a movie on Christmas while I folding five billion cardboard blocks for the boys.  I was very down in the afternoon as I kept looking over at the pile of new toys just sitting there with nobody to play with them.  Hopefully there are no misunderstandings in the future.  Yeah, I'm not holding my breath either.
Both days I pulled up to the boys house, Killian was standing in the doorway waiting for me.  When he saw my truck I could see him saying Daddy, Daddy and jumping up and down.  Then he would push open the screen door and run down the sidewalk so I could pick him up and throw him in the air.  After I catch him, he always points to Beck who is now sauntering down the sidewalk and says "Bet".  Killian thinks that I should throw Beck into the air as well.  Beck is more interested in pointing out things he knows.  No (snow, bud (bird), leaf, and so forth.  Madame X has stopped even coming to help me load the twins up.  So the process is now, set Killian in his car seat.  I choose Killian for this first leg because Killian holds himself more stiff than Beck does and I have to set Killian in his car seat one handed while holding Beck.  It would be like trying to load a carrot one handed versus loading Jello-O.  I then take Beck around to the other side, turn on Nemo.  Both boys then say doggies rough rough.  Beck has also started adding doggies bark.
Thursday the boys and I went back to Mom's to play.  Beck has started spending a lot of time with Tinker toys.  He likes to build a "biggie towa".  If he can't figure out how to make a big tower he gets frustrated with them and throws them down.  Most of the time he succeeds.  The boys explored more of Mom's house and decided to play in her jacuzzi tub.  Killian decided to taste the soap during that adventure.  I am sure he will not be doing that again.  I had to pull him out of the tub and give him some water to wash it down with.
The boys wanted to go wander around the church parking lot.  Beck will say gahg (garage) meaning that he wants to play in the garage.  Then the second we get into the garage he will say outsie (outside).  Killian will then say chuch.  I of course let them go over to the church to explore, even though it was cold and wet outside.  Killian and Beck wanted to climb the "biggie no pile" (big snow pile).  I managed to get my entire leg stuck in the snow.  Once we were unstuck, then the boys were off and running again.  They have to run everywhere.  There is no walking.  And we can only look at something for about five seconds because we might miss something else.  I have a video of Killian going in a complete circle looking at things.  Once he completed the circle, he started it all over again to look at the same things.  The boys naturally found a big puddle to play in until they were soaked.  Killian said he was "sirsty" so he layed down on the asphalt and drank from the puddle.  When I wouldn't let him drink from the puddle, he decided to start eating snow instead.  At the end of the day Beck usually starts asking for Mommy.  I have started telling him that Mommy isn't home, she is out shopping.  On Thursday Beck looks at me and says, "Mommy? Oh, sopping."  I started laughing and so Beck kept saying it to entertain.
On Friday the boys and I made a pit stop to see Grandpa Larry and Grandma Marla.  The boys haven't seen them in awhile and I was very worried that they would just start crying and the entire thing would be a disaster.  It took all of about five minutes to warm up to them.  The boys started playing with a battery powered train that went around a track.  Then Beck decided he would rather walk around the track.  After walking around it a couple of times, the track came apart.  Beck continued to walk on the track, he just started saying ow (step) ow (step) ow.  Things went really well at their house.
I need to start blogging right after the boys leave.  They do and say so many funny things while I am with them.  But it seems like I struggle to recall what they were when trying to write.  Maybe I'm a ninety year old trapped in a thirty-five year olds body.  It really feels that way after playing with the boys for four hours.

More videos

Beck watching the movie Cars.  You will hear him say "tane" for train.

Beck beatboxing.  I didn't get him to do it for very long.  He really likes the fast street racing cars on the movie Cars.  When he watches them he always starts beatboxing.  I have no idea where he got that from.  It was a little hard to get the camera in front of him with Killian sitting on me feet.

I wish that I could have a still camera, and a video camera at my disposal at all times.  I finally get Beck to dance, only to not be able to get the camera out fast enough.  So here is Beck dancing for two seconds.

I think in High School I could have had more dates if I learned to exit the car like Killian does.

I entitled this one off off off off.  When you watch it you will understand why.  I have no idea what Killian is doing in this video.

They came up with this game all on their own.  I guess it pays to have a twin at times.  I don't think I could have done this as an only child.  If I would have been able to do this by myself, my parents probably would have taken me to the doctor.

Longest Yet

On Saturday Madame X instructed me that I needed to be "committed" to keep the boys until at least five in the evening.  This surprised me as I have only ever taken them back when one or the other wants to go home.  I was very confused why my commitment was being brought into question, but...whatever.
I picked the boys up at one and decided to take them to the mall to play for some time so that they wouldn't get bored with being at my house for four straight hours.  That was a terrible idea, with it being the holiday shopping time.  We drove to University mall and the only parking stall we could find was in Wyoming.  Killian did not like all the kids running around everywhere.  He held my hand the entire time.  I am a little too tall to play in munchkinville.  I'm pretty sure there was more than one child there that needed a diaper change.  I felt like a pig searching for a truffle trying to figure out if that smell was coming from my own offspring.  Gladly, it was not.  The boys wanted nothing to do with the playground, but they did find a small fountain nearby.  Beck even started scooping water out of the fountain so that he would have a  puddle on the floor to stomp in.  If I didn't have to keep them in working condition for four hours while Madame X was away, I probably would have let him continue on, just so I could see how all that water turned out.  Killian started trying to drink the water as well.  We only lasted for an hour at the mall.  So it was back into the truck to eat goldfish crackers and watch Nemo.
While driving on the freeway I glanced back to make sure Beck was still awake and noticed that his cheeks were puffed out like Dizzy Gillespie.  He had taken every single gold fish cracker that was in the Tupperware, and shoved it into his mouth.  Beck had to keep his finger stuck in his mouth to prevent the reservoir of gold fish crackers from spilling out.  He let all of that sit in his mouth for awhile and then I stuck my hand back there and told him to spit it out.  There were so many half mushy crackers that it filled my hand and then some.  He got it on his coat and he then kept saying yuck (pause) yuck (pause) yuck, until we got home and could clean off his coat.  At home we did the usual.  Watch Cars, play upstairs, play downstairs, demolish the house.  Beck even decided that he liked one of the rocks I had in a vase that was holding a bamboo plant.  So he yanked that down and the plant out, so he could get the rock.  I had them for four and a half hours.  Killian only started asking for Mommy because he knew it was time for a tub and then bed.  The kid no longer takes naps, so by five, he is usually ready for fall asleep on his feet.  By the end of four hours with twins, I'm lucky if I can get back up on my feet.
The photos are not very good due to the "upgrade" in something with the iPhone I guess.

Terrible photo, but love the smiles

I'm not sure he can see the television well enough

Killian decided to watch TV on my feet leaning back into my legs.  My legs fell asleep.

Getting Old

I have come to the realization that I am getting older.  I know that this change has been taking place over time.  But I have just noticed this.  No longer do injuries happen on the basketball court, but while I am sleeping.  Or that process of getting out of bed.  My driving is slower and sometimes I get home not realizing how I got there in the first place.  Hoping I didn't leave a wake of death and destruction as I went through the motions of finding my way home.  I like cauliflower.  I used to weigh 150 and could leg press 350.  Now I weigh 350 and can leg press 15.  I could dunk a basketball, now I think how high up the bottom of the net looks and wonder if they raised the rim to thirty feet from ten feet.  A basketball court now looks like a football field.  I select foods no longer based on what sounds good, but how it will make me feel later on.  I figure out how many hours I have to work to buy something to see if there is value in it.  I wear socks all the time.  CNN has become a more visited site with my web browser than ESPN.  When Killian spilled a bunch of crackers, I didn't look for the garbage can.  That would require much more effort than just picking the food up off the floor and shoving the leftover food into my mouth.  I guess I have to play the role of the dog since I no longer have one.  Conversations used to consist of "what did you think of them trading  X NBA player to Y NBA team?"  Now I have conversations that sound like this...Me: Did you poop?  Killian: No, I good Daddy.  Me: What are you doin'?  Beck: Poopin'.  I am no longer putting together airplane models, but trying to figure out how to read Chinese instructions while putting together a ride on dump truck.  The change from being a  juvenile to being a father that acts like a juvenile seemed to take place in just one day.  I woke up and there it was staring at me in the mirror.  It is a change that came about from having those two cute little monsters in my life.  I love them for helping to make me a better person.  Even if I can no longer get out of bed without sounding like someone just poured milk over Rice Krispies.

Assorted

The first video is of Killian showing his dog the garage going up.  He was very careful with the dog.  He treated it just like it was a real dog, showing the animal a lot of respect rather than throwing it around like I have seen little children do with small dogs.

This video is more playing at the church.  I never understand what interests them about some things, but it sure if fun to watch.

I was pretty impressed with Killian figuring out he could place his stick in one side of the garbage can and then reach it from the other side.

Laughter

I love to hear Beck laugh.  He isn't as outgoing as Killian is.  His facial expression is one of neutrality at times.  So when I can make him smile and laugh it warms my heart and brings me great joy.

Which one to follow

I love spending time with the boys.  The challenge though is when I am by myself and they are running around outside.  How do I contain them?  Which one do I follow?  The twins have two opposite personalities and that almost always translates into the twins going two different directions.  I don't want to always follow one twin and not the other.  I want them to learn from exploring life.  What is a father to do?

Monday part 2

Blogger wouldn't let me post all the pictures together, so here are the rest of Monday's visit.  I also forgot to mention that Beck found my coke while I was in another room.  I'm not sure if he was afraid I wouldn't let him have more,  so he was trying to stuff his cheek's full before I told him no.

'Leepin'

On Monday I sent a text to Madame X to see if the boys were ready.  She replied that they were playing outside and if I wanted to come get them I needed to make sure I took them to play outside.  I'm not sure why the need to play outside, but who am I to argue with the diabolical mind of Madame X.
I pulled up in front of the house and Killian immediately started running towards the truck.  He was promptly met by a closed gate that Madame X had to open for him.  He then came running down the sidewalk with his arms in the air saying Daddy, Daddy, Daddy as he ran.  I picked him up and he started laughing, so I thre him into the air.  I adore greetings like this.  Now that doesn't mean I want all of you that are reading this to start greeting me that way.  That could make things awkward and I'm not sure I can throw some of you into the air.  Beck was a little more reserved in his greeting of me.  I squatted down so I would be more his height when he came over, hoping for him to run to me.  Beck sauntered over and pointed at the leaves and said leaves.  Then sat down on my leg.  Not quite the greeting I was hoping for, but it still beats screaming and running away from me when I get there.  Madame X also informed me that I needed to feed them instead of letting them graze throughout the afternoon and she suggested french fries.
So we were off to McDonalds to get some fries.  By the time I had ordered the fries Killian was fast asleep in his car seat.  I still enjoy watching them sleep.  I did focus on my driving and didn't just watch him sleep all the way back to Mapleton.  I carried him into the house and placed him in bed to take a nap.  Beck kept going to the door and saying Key-yan 'leepin'.  I kept trying to get him interested in other things away from Killian.  Beck decided he needed to take a stuffed dog in and lay it next to Killian on the bed.  Beck decided after that, that he didn't want Killian to sleep because he took two blocks into the bedroom and started to throw them at the bed.  Fortunately I saw that coming and caught the blocks before they hit Killian.  I sent a text Madame X and asked her how long I should let Killian sleep so that he would still go to bed at night.  She told me to wake him up, he wasn't allowed to sleep in the afternoon.  I compromised and let him sleep for an hour.  Next time I won't even ask, I'll just let him sleep.
When Killian woke up we played some, but Beck didn't really feel like being there so I took them home.  I hope in the near future Beck becomes as comfortable around me as Killian is.  On the drive home Killian held out his stuffed animal and talked to it showing the dog things.  We passed a construction site and Killian held the dog to the window and said cane, cane, cane (crane).  Killian waved bye when I dropped them off.  Beck didn't even look back.  I hate waiting until Saturday.

Tip

On Saturday I had the boys from one to five.  I wish Beck could make it longer before he decided to say Mommy (pause) Mommy (pause) Mommy.  Killian no longer says Mommy.  I love it.  He always runs to greet me at the gate when I pick them up.  We played at the church, upstairs, downstairs, upstairs again, in the backyard, the garage.  It can be very tiring to try and keep up with them at times.  They have a new game they like to play.  They bite the foam blocks and then carry them by mouth over to stick them in my mouth.  I'm not sure how you win in this game, but they seem to enjoy it.  Beck likes it when he lays down in the plastic car filled with balls and you tip the car on each side while he is in it.  As soon as you stop, he is saying tip, tip, until you start again.

I did not give him codeine to slow him down...promise

Really Dad, another picture, really
